Unique opportunities
In addition, Broad offers unique opportunities for MBAs to hone their management skills, including: specialized labs, case experiences, and foreign study.
Leadership & Teamwork Laboratory
In the first semester of studies, students participate in the Leadership and Teamwork lab, in which they are given real-time feedback on teamwork and leadership skills. In addition to these simulations, students are given 360-degree team reviews and are assigned a team mentor. Students remain on these teams throughout the first year of studies.
Financial Analysis Laboratory
As part of the Broad School’s Financial Analysis Laboratory (FAL) and Security Analysis class, students manage a $2M Student Investment Fund (SIF). Students monitor and research current portfolio holdings, develop new investment ideas, and recommend individual securities for purchase or sale. Students focus on small and middle capitalization companies with an emphasis on value stocks. The class produces a semi-annual fund report, detailing fund holdings and investment performance.
IBM On-demand Supply Chain Laboratory
Broad School MBAs study, simulate, and test the key relationships in an end-to-end supply chain, focusing on the dynamic flow of information and the resulting interdependencies between them.
Case Competition Laboratory
The Broad School has developed an advantage in national case competitions, due to an increased emphasis on the case method. The case lab serves as another outlet for students seeking to apply their business skills to real-world situations. It also benefits recruiters by providing candidates that analyze business situations quickly, determine and source the necessary information, and provide feasible solutions in a short period.
